A story of creation from the Mayan land. Have you ever visited the Mexican Caribbean ? The amazement that the vestiges of the Mayan civilization produce in us cannot be described with words, the magic of its colors , the beautiful sound of the sea, the exotic vegetation and the delicious climate , take us to a dream paradise, from which; we feed ourselves to create our Hunahpu & Ixbalanque collection.
So after vacationing in this paradise, we returned full of inspiration and began a research process on the worldview of the Mayans, for whom the Milky Way was the place where existence transcended. They called it Wakah Chan , and related it to Xibalbá be , or the path to the underworld. They even had a Zodiac, based on the Ecliptic , which is the Sun's path through the fixed constellations. And around which, the history of the creation of the universe, animals and human beings unfolds - history contained - in the book POPOL VUH. From which we chose the figure of the sun and the moon to inspire the concept of the collection.
Once we define our theme; we got to work, and we chose to work directly with the metal. therefore, each and every one of the pieces in this collection were touched by artisan hands. Mixing different production methods.
- On the one hand, the half spheres were cut with a laser.
- hand stuffed
- The bracelets, rings and all the metallic structures were cut in wire of different gauges, filed, forged
- Welded in different stages.
- Finally, where there is a pearl; there's a little wire post that's soldered on.
- Which penetrates the pearl to hold it securely in place with the help of an epoxy jewelry adhesive.
- All this manufactured in our workshop by Gabriela Garcia Mariscal, designer of the brand.
