Silver filigree, antique coin, cultured river pearls

This portable piece of art honors the figure of Coyolxauhqui, the Mexica lunar goddess, through an ancient coin framed by the moon glyph, reproduced using the traditional filigree technique.

Suspended from a necklace of cultured river pearls, the design evokes the union
between the ancestral, the ritual, and the feminine.

Inspired by the concept of the “danced jewel”, this work acquires a symbolic and energetic value by having been danced in the Vela Biadxi, a Zapotec celebration of deep community significance, held in Juchitán de Zaragoza, Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

This festival, accessible only by invitation, requires the ceremonial wearing of hand-embroidered velvet huipiles, skirts and petticoats that transform the body into a living altar.

Biadxi:
Luna Bailada is not just a precious object; it is a living memory, full of
communion, dance and territory.
