The history of kintsugi (Japanese for "golden joinery") dates back to the late 15th century when the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa sent two of his favorite tea bowls to China for repair. The bowls returned repaired, but with unsightly metal staples that made them crude and unattractive. Dissatisfied with the result, he sought out Japanese artisans who could perform a better repair, thus discovering a new way of repairing ceramics, which became an art form.
Day one
The technique will be explained: materials and process.
The parts will be joined and if necessary, we will fill in the missing parts.
Several days are required for the applied material to settle.
Day two
After the material has rested or dried, the cleaning process is completed.
